Ancient Egypt is revealed through its art and architecture, dedicated to gods, goddesses and pharaohs and depicting the symbols of their faith as well as conveying the daily life of citizens. Learn about the explorers and archaeologists, writers and artists, travellers and residents of more recent centuries and visit mosques, monasteries and museums in teeming Cairo or the silent deserts of Sinai.
