U3A - Eternal Egypt

  • Buderim War Memorial Hall - CWA Room 1 Main Street Buderim, QLD, 4556 Australia (map)

Discover the fascination of Ancient Egypt through its landscape, history, religion and society, with an enthusiastic Egyptologist who has studied with a Monash academic who regularly excavates in Egypt, has travelled in the country four times and is a member of the Egypt Exploration Society founded by Amelia Edwards.

Ancient Egypt is revealed through its art and architecture, dedicated to gods, goddesses and pharaohs and depicting the symbols of their faith as well as conveying the daily life of citizens. Learn about the explorers and archaeologists, writers and artists, travellers and residents of more recent centuries and visit mosques, monasteries and museums in teeming Cairo or the silent deserts of Sinai.
