Sunshine Coast Art Group - Exhibition & Art Market
Feeling the chill of the weather.... then how about warming up with a bowl of delicious homemade soup in a handmade bowl which you get to keep! That’s what’s on offer at the Sunshine Coast Art Group’s annual, major fundraising event. You get to select from a fabulous range of hand made and decorated ceramic bowls, and have it filled with your choice of winter warming soup and enjoy some crusty bread to go with it… all for just $15! You can even buy a microwaveable soup bowl holder (made by our sewers) to go with it.
This much anticipated event has developed a great following from the local community for good reasons. As well as the soup bowls you can purchase unique handmade items and artworks - ranging from landscapes on canvas to gift cards on paper, jewellery, garden art, functional work and sculptural – all things arty and crafty. The members of the Club have been working for months, making their pieces as well as the bowls which are the key component of our fundraising initiative with all of the proceeds going towards covering the ever increasing cost of running our studios.
This year we have an added feature to our exhibition and art market being a display of handcrafted ‘houses’ that were created as part of a club-wide challenge (to make a home for any living creature!). The results are incredibly creative constructions which will delight all for sure…plus there’s a People's Choice award with voting being conducted at the event on the day. Funds raised from the sale of ‘the houses’ will go to the One Roof project operated by the Maroochy Neighbourhood Centre for the very worthy cause of helping the homeless on the Coast. ‘Houses’ for the ‘homeless’. Created by one community group to help another…which we think is pretty special.
This is an event not to miss. Not only can you buy a bowl and soup… and sit back and enjoy it listening to one of the Club’s super cool bands…you can browse items in both of our art studios, bag a bargain, chat to the artists, watch demonstrations and enjoy a fun day out with family and friends. There’s an activity to keep the kids entertained plus a coffee van and some homemade sweet treats to enjoy. There’s plenty of off-street parking, EFTPOS and FREE ENTRY. We’ve put everything in place to make it as easy and fun to come.
