The creative quilters of the Buderim Craft Cottage only stage an exhibition every two years, and this year is the one.

Traditional and modern quilts will be hung throughout the cottage for this three-day event from Friday, June 23 to Sunday, June 25 (9am-3pm each day).

Some works - bed quilts (treasured family heirlooms of the future) and other quilted items - will be available for sale.

As well, a hand-made quilt, “Melody in Monochrome” (pictured), will be raffled with proceeds going to the Maroochydore sleepbus org.  Raffle tickets will be available for $2 each.

The exhibition is your chance to see what wonders can be created from simple scraps of material, using imagination, skill and hours and hours of dedicated handwork.  One hand-made quilt can take months to produce, yet can sell for as little as $100-$200, because they’re made with love, not profit in mind.  And a hand-made quilt is an original, not a mass-produced, throwaway item.  Each quilt has its own story and can be passed down from generation to generation as something of value with its own sentimental attachment. 

Refreshments including complimentary tea and coffee will be available.  Entry is $5.
