The Buderim Palmwoods Historical Tramway Inc. (BPHTI) is excited to announce that it will be participating in the National Trust of Queensland’s Heritage Festival, which runs from April 10th to May 14th, 2023. As part of the festival, BPHTI will be hosting a Guided Walk on Saturday, April 29th from 1.00 pm to 3.00 pm.
Don’t miss this unique opportunity to take a guided walk through the track’s history and learn about the early pioneer farmers’ enthusiasm for the tramway and how it was used by the early settlers of the Buderim district.
The Guided Walk will give visitors the opportunity to explore a section of the historical Buderim to Palmwoods tramway track, which was operational between 1914 to 1935. The tour guides will provide a fascinating commentary on the history of the track’s construction, which took place over the years 1912 -1914, and the Buderim community’s efforts to have it built. The visitors will also witness the impressive engineering of the track construction first-hand and view several sleepers that are still in place. In addition, they will be able to observe some rare native moss that is growing beside the track.
Please note that parking at the site is limited, but visitors can park along the side of the road on Telco Road.
As we are a volunteer organisation a gold coin donation would be appreciated plus be one of the few to acquire a water bottle picturing the ‘Krauss’ for $5.00.
