Earth & Sky

  • Beerwah Community Hall 25 Peachester Road, Beerwah Buderim, QLD, 4556 Australia (map)

Southern Cross Soloists have been among the stars of Australian chamber music since their formation in 1995. Earth & Sky will make its national debut at the festival, and feature a combination of much-loved classics and a series of new works that have been produced as part of the innovative SXS Didgeridoo Commissioning Project that celebrates the wonder of nature and our connection to country.

This concert will also feature Wakka Wakka Artist-in-Residence Chris Williams, who will bring to life a stunning series of works written for Didgeridoo, including Sean O’Boyle’s magnificent “Beerwah: The Mother of the Glasshouse Mountains”. The music will be accompanied by renowned visual artist James Muller’s captivating projections, which celebrate the central theme of earth and sky.

Prepare to be visually and aurally spoiled with this multi-dimensional concert which speaks to contemporary chamber music as a “conversation” between instruments, across genres and cultural traditions.
