Community Event - Marc Henrickx and Carolyn Rogers

  • Northshore Community Centre 701 David Low Way Mudjimba, QLD, 4564 Australia (map)

Be inspired, be informed…. Moving Forward Sunshine Coast invites you to a community event with Marc Hendrickx and Carolyn Rogers.

Marc Hendrickx is a geologist, blogger and author. He graduated from Latrobe University with first class honours in geology in 1993 and spent the first part of his career as a regional mapping geologist, making geology maps for state geological surveys in Victoria, the Northern Territory and NSW. He later switched to engineering geology and currently owns and runs a geological consulting agency specialising in landslide risk assessment.

He has published on a range of issues in The Australian Newspaper, Quadrant and The Spectator magazines. He runs the Right to Climb blog, dedicated to preserving public access to places of wonder. His books " A Guide to Climbing Ayers Rock" and "A Guide to Climbing Mt Warning" may be purchased from Connor Court Publishing, at the event.

"Public access to Australia's places of awe and wonder are increasingly under threat from politicians and bureaucrats too afraid to question irrational claims being made by activist groups who want to lock the gate on the public.... If we fail to stand up for our common ideals we risk being locked out of the wonderful country around us. In appeasing narrow-minded selfish minorities who see themselves as perpetual victims, we agree to be locked out of the Australian landscape and risk losing the very essence of what makes us Australian".

Marc Hendrickx outlines the case, through facts, figures and historical information for keeping these places open to the public and protecting public access to other places currently under threat of closure like the Glass House Mountains in QLD, St Mary's Peak in South Australia and the Grampians in Victoria.

Marc will present on the topic: "Keep open the gate of Awe and Wonder"

Carolyn Rogers is a Psychologist with over 25 yeas of experience and has her private practice in Brisbane. Before training as a Psychologist, Carolyn was a Registered Nurse and had a background in Nutrition.

Carolyn has been a presenter for Low Carb Down Under, the Australian Medical Association and the Australian Medical Network, amongst others.

In her many years practising as a Psychologist, Carolyn has observed that underpinning all the difficulties people struggle with, there are always problems with human connection, otherwise known as Attachment.

Carolyn will present on the topic: "What Has My Childhood Got To Do With Anything? Understanding Attachment”
